The publicist of “Oh Gosnell” said that the creation of the play was inspired by a comic monologue by Laby. “They’re laughing at it – we’re telling the truth about it,” says the play’s website, now called “O Gosnel: The Truth Show.”
It was written by Felim McAllier, who is listed on IMDB as the producer of the film “My Son Hunter”, which has not yet been released, with Lawrence Fox as Hunter Biden, as well as the writer and producer of “Obamagate”. with Dean Kane in the lead role, which The New York Post described as a play that premiered on YouTube. Among other things, his plays “Ferguson” about the shooting of Michael Brown by police in 2014.
Laughter and truth, of course, are not mutually exclusive, even if McAller, a right-wing provocateur whose program calls him a “veteran investigator,” suggests otherwise.
As for passing on some general truth about abortion, rather than the specific truth about the horrific case of Kermit Gosnell, a Philadelphia doctor convicted in 2013 of first-degree murder for killing three babies after failed late-term abortions, this is not the case. It is also not designed to convince.
The script of the play, simply titled Gosnel, states that it was “literally composed of a grand jury and transcripts of criminal courts” in the Gosnel case. In director David Atkinson’s spare, somewhat dimly staged reading, he has seven actors, which includes an attractive young actor named Kache Atiana, who I hope will soon get a better job.
“The first thing I want you to be sure of, ladies and gentlemen,” said prosecutor (Roxana Bonifield) at the beginning of the show, “is that it’s not about abortion.”
To emphasize, she repeats this statement. Maybe McAliere, co-author of a book about the Gosnel case, producer and co-writer of the 2018 film “Gosnel: The Trial of America’s Greatest Serial Killer,” hasn’t heard it?
