On Tuesday this week, South Africans listened with interest after Senzo Meyiwa’s trial as state witness and Meyiwa’s best friend, Tumela Madlala, told the court that he overheard Chika asking Kelly if she wanted to go on holiday. Many wondered why Chicco would offer this to a grieving Kelly and took to social media to discuss the possible reasons.
Chico has since opened up about the overseas trip and why he decided to propose it to the singer, who claims he had nothing to do with the soccer star’s 2014 murder.

South African social media users were shocked to hear from Senzo Meyiwa’s best friend that music producer Chika Twala offered to pay for Kelly Khumalo’s trip abroad shortly after her then-boyfriend, Senzo Meyiwa, was killed in what is believed to be a botched robbery at her home residence of Soweto.
“I’m not sure about the day, but Chico came. Kelly and I both felt bad. He walked in and started talking to Kelly.
“I couldn’t hear their conversation properly, but I heard Chico asking Kelly if she wanted to go on holiday abroad,” Madlala said as he testified at Mevia’s trial on Tuesday this week.

According to Cheek, who spoke to Sowetan Live shortly after the revelation, he was trying to help Kelly, who had been shunned by the Meyiwa family.
“When Senzo died, nobody wanted Kelly. She cried all the time. What would you do if you were rejected by your child’s father’s family? I had to try to support her,” Twala said.
He also said that she was very distressed by the loss of Mevia – he must have been very sick.
Meanwhile, local residents continue to share their thoughts on the case and seem convinced that there is much more to the story than what is being told.
