CAPE TOWN – Police Minister Bheki Chele praised Western Cape police for arresting three men in a massive cocaine bust in Cape Town when the suspects appeared in the Athlone Magistrates’ Court on Monday morning.

Speaking to the media outside the court, Chele said: “The police and law enforcement agencies of the Western Cape are doing an excellent job. Today we’ve seen suspects come forward in the bust of over 600kg of cocaine, made by Crime Intelligence with the Hawks.’

Officers discovered cocaine hidden in a wooden compartment in the back of the truck.

The street value of the cocaine is estimated at more than 400 million rand and the suspects are due back in court next week.
