The emergency and emergency departments at Charlotte Makseke Academic Hospital in Johannesburg will be officially opened on Monday after parts of the hospital were destroyed by fire on April 16 last year.

According to the statement, the reopening is in line with a commitment made last month that the two critical units of the facility will be ready by the end of this month.

Reconstruction of the two wards is part of a step-by-step approach to hospital rehabilitation. Health Minister Joe Fahl will oversee the reopening and conduct a site visit.
