The Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra announces that its youth orchestra is set to present its first full symphonic concert on Saturday night.
Brandon Phillips, conductor of the orchestra, says he is proud and delighted that after 18 years, they finally have 55 young instrumentalists aged 15 to 25 to take to the stage at the Hugo Lambrecht Music Center in Parou, Belleville East from Cape Town. .
“Until now, the orchestra has struggled to maintain the constant number of players needed for a full show, as they will lose musicians and gain new ones every year,” Phillips explains.
A young group of musicians will perform the music of great classical musicians such as Elgar and Beethoven, while the young South African pianist Mike Wan is the soloist who will play a composition by Mendelssohn.
The symphony concert will begin at 4:00 p.m.
