Cape Town officially introduced the attacker Wade Lekay as their latest signing in an attempt to strengthen their strike department.

As reported on South African site before, Lekai joined the Citizens on Monday and the club was expected to make an announcement sooner rather than later.
And they did so hours after the story first broke, while also confirming the details of Lekai’s contract with them.

According to City, the former TS Galaxy marksman has signed a three-year deal, meaning he will be their player until at least June 2025.

“We are pleased to confirm the signing of 25-year-old forward Wade Lekay from TS Galaxy FC,” the statement said.
“He has penned a 3-year deal, signed until June 2025. Welcome Wade!”

It is a lifeline for the career of Lekaj, who tried his luck at three different PSL clubs after leaving TS Galaxy.

Lekai, 25, first had a trial with Kaizer Chiefs, who opted not to sign him, before moving to KwaZulu-Natal province to train with Royal AM and Maritzburg United.
He was expected to sign for Maritzburg United but City moved quickly and offered him a deal he couldn’t refuse.

Lekai will wear the number 19 shirt at Cape Town City, the club confirmed on Monday evening.
