Organized by ProVeg South Africa, Braai Plant Heritage Day aims to celebrate the country’s rich and diverse heritage through food and vegetables in particular.
CAPE TOWN – Get ready for South Africa’s biggest plant braai this Heritage Day.
Yes, you heard that right, there will be no meat in this braai, instead there will be only meat alternatives.
Organized by South Africa’s ProVeg, Braai Plant Heritage Day aims to celebrate the country’s rich and diverse heritage through food, or more importantly, vegetables.
ProVeg spokesperson, Donovan Will: “You can have the full braai experience like any other braai, and it’s completely plant-based. This means it will be sustainable and animals will not have to die in the process. A lot of the options we all have are healthier, you can have grilled veggie burgers, falafel burgers… we’ll obviously have some salads and vegetables, so we really want to showcase those options.”
A special herbal braai takes place in Camps Bay on Saturday.
