And the country’s FA followed through on that promise, with the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture adding 5.8 million rand on top of that 9.2 million rand.
Now Sports Minister Nathi Mthethwa has revealed that the department has met with the national government after a 5.8 million rand bonus was promised.

And the government led by President Cyril Ramaphosa decided to increase the bonus prize from R5.8 million to R15 million, meaning R9.2 million was added to the original pledge.

“We are here to announce that the national government’s contribution to the team is 15 million rand which is going to the national government,” Mthethwa told reporters.
“And you remember the president saying, ‘yes, 5.8 million rand, but I say it should be more than 5.8 million rand.’
“So you can do your calculations; our R5.8 [million] plus… then 15 million rupees. This means that 9.2 million rubles were added. And that’s without taking into account the 9.2 million rand we talked about earlier that comes from the tournament,” Mthethwa added.
