The driver was traveling at a high rate of speed when she ran off the road and crashed into a house, Los Angeles Police Department Public Information Officer Jeff Lee told CNN. The impact caused the car to catch fire, and the driver received burns. She was taken to a local hospital by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics in critical condition. It took firefighters more than an hour to “gain access, contain and fully extinguish the persistent flames in the heavily damaged structure,” the LAFD said.
No other injuries were reported.
