Some African leaders have taken to social media to congratulate and express their good wishes to the President-elect of Kenya, William Ruto.

Ruto of the United Democratic Alliance won about seven million votes and defeated Raila Odinga, the long-time leader of the opposition party Azimio La Umoha, who managed to secure more than six million votes.

Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa says he has no doubt vRuto will serve his country well and the continent as well with great distinction.

Meanwhile, Ruto was also congratulated by the statesmen of Kenya’s neighboring countries in the east of the continent.

Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed wished him all the best in his endeavours, and said he hoped to strengthen bilateral ties.

Somali President Mohamed Farmaajo says the Kenyan president-elect ran a rich and hard-hitting campaign and wished him well in realizing his vision.
