The case of two men accused of murdering Municipal Mayor Collins Chabane in Malamulele, Limpopo, will return to the Local Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.

Moses Maluleke was shot dead in his home in Shikundu village in July.

At the moment, four people have been arrested for his murder.

Thirty-six-year-old Wiseman Baloyi and Takalani Mudau were arrested two weeks ago via mobile phone.

Maluleke’s family says Baloyi and Mudau were well acquainted with Maluleke.

The first two accused, Shumani Nemadodi, 42, and Avhatakali Mulaudi, 42, who are believed to be the gunmen, have decided not to apply for bail.

All four defendants face six charges, including one count of conspiracy, one count of murder, and one count of attempted murder.

The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) says it has assigned the case to two senior prosecutors, while police say more arrests cannot be ruled out.
