A fourth suspect arrested in connection with Hilary Gordy’s murder has refused bail.
The Hilary Gardy murder case
Khlabirwa Rasie Nkune appeared before the Nelspruit Magistrates Court on Thursday on several charges, including murder, rape, kidnapping and perverting the course of justice.
The 36-year-old was arrested earlier this month at his hideout in Springs, east of Gauteng. His arrest brings the total number of suspects who have been arrested in connection with the murder to four.
The other accused are Philemon Lukele, Albert Gama and Sipho Mhatshwa.
All four men were charged with conspiracy to commit murder, murder, rape, kidnapping, possession of unlicensed firearms, possession of ammunition and obstruction of justice.

Gordy, the daughter of former EFF secretary-general Godrich Gordy, was found on May 3 near a forest plantation outside Mbombela after she went missing from Nelspruit Plaza on April 29.
A 28-year-old boy was found with stab wounds, boot marks and a gunshot wound.
During Nkune’s court appearance on Thursday, it was revealed that he has cases in two different courts in Mpumalanga.
NPA Regional Spokesperson Monica Nyuswa said the accused also had previous convictions for possession of unlicensed firearms.
“He is also charged with murdering a woman (Nonkululeka Crystal Nkosi) at the Delmas Magistrates Court and another case at the KaNyamazane Magistrates Court where he is facing two counts of murder.
“He allegedly killed a police officer and her sister, which happened in May of this year. He also has a previous conviction where he was sentenced to four years of correctional supervision for possession of an unlicensed firearm,” Nyuswa said in statement.
A bail hearing for the two suspects arrested in Gardi’s murder was expected to continue on September 2, 2022.
The trial of the four defendants has been postponed to September 9, 2022.
All suspects have been remanded in custody.
