The Bafokeng Regional Court sentenced Kleinboy Nakanu Kwele to 20 years in prison for raping a woman in 2018.

Police spokeswoman Lt Col Amanda Funani said the victim was with another woman in Letabong, near Rustenburg.

Funani said: “He threatened them with a knife and eventually grabbed and dragged one of the women further into the bushes and raped her. The matter was then reported to the Letabong police and within days, Kwele was actually tracked down and arrested.”

Kwele, 52, committed the crime six months after being released on parole for a 2006 rape.

Funani said his previous non-parole sentence was also 20 years.

She said a woman who was with the victim testified against Kwele.

Both women were in court during the sentencing.
